Privacy Policy

The information we request when registering your children at the centre is used to provide high-quality child care experiences. Information we need includes (but is not limited to):

• Full Legal Names of Children and Parent(s)/Guardians
• Date of Birth
• Home Address(es)
• Telephone Numbers
• Email Addresses
• Names and Phone Numbers of Emergency/Alternate Contacts
• Medical Records
• Court Documentation (if necessary)

In order to provide quality child care and maintain compliance with Child Care and Early Years Act, Top of the Ridge Day Care must gather necessary information to provide appropriate and responsive service for children and families.

At Top of the Ridge Day Care, all staff have read and completed a confidentiality policy.   

We do not sell your information to third parties. Our procedures and systems

are designed to protect your information from error, loss or unauthorized access. Those people who have access to your personal information must enter into privacy, confidentiality agreements with us.

Your information and children's files are kept and maintained for at least 3 years, and you have the right to request to view these at any time your child is in attendance.

We require written consent for the following:

• Permission to Apply Sunscreen
• Permission to Take Photographs
• Permission to go for Walks/Buggy Rides
• Permission to Administer Non-Prescription Skin Products (such as diaper cream, lip balm, hand sanitizer, lotions, etc.)
• Prescription Medication Authorization
• Consent to complete DISC Preschool Screening (DPS) and Speech & Language Checklists
• Consent to complete Behaviour C.A.R.E. (Children's Actions, Relationships & Emotions) Checklists (as needed)

Written consent is obtained before a child's personally identifiable information is released to an outside researcher and/or a child participates in any research project conducted at the child care centre.

Access to a child's records without parental consent may only be given to officials of the following:

• Coroner's Office
• Courts in response to a warrant or a court order
• Ombudsman
• Authorities vested in provincial or federal statutes
• The Minister of Education and officials to whom he/she has delegated the authority (e.g. Program Advisors)
